Defence Contractor — 11-Project National Program

Defence / National — SA, WA, VIC, NSW, ACT | 11 projects across high-security sites

The Project

Eleven commercial furniture projects delivered for Australia’s largest defence contractor — a global company operating across naval shipbuilding, combat systems, electronic warfare, and intelligence — with over 8,000 employees across Australia and a critical role in the nation’s sovereign defence capability.

This program spanned multiple high-security sites nationwide, from a 4-level support tower on a naval shipyard in Western Australia to classified workspaces in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and the ACT.

The Challenge

Defence environments present challenges that go well beyond standard commercial fit-outs. Every site operates under strict security protocols — personnel clearances, escorted access, controlled documentation, and information handling requirements that are non-negotiable.

The Henderson support tower in Western Australia was the centrepiece of the program: a purpose-built 4-level facility on an active naval shipyard, supporting a multi-billion-dollar submarine program. The furniture specification included transparent security screens for open-plan areas, integrated fibre optic cabling for classified communications, and custom fabrication elements that had to be manufactured to exacting standards.

Several projects involved Indigenous Procurement Policy compliance — a commitment to engaging Indigenous-owned businesses and suppliers as part of the delivery chain. This wasn’t a box-ticking exercise; it required genuine engagement with Indigenous businesses and careful coordination to meet both procurement targets and project timelines.

Our Approach

Every project was managed under the same framework of precision, documentation, and compliance. Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) documentation was prepared for each site. Delivery logistics were coordinated around active military and industrial operations. Custom fabrication was managed through Australian manufacturers with the capability to meet defence-grade specifications.

The security requirements meant that photography was restricted or prohibited on many sites. The work speaks through the documentation, the repeat engagement, and the fact that the client continued to return for project after project across the country.

The Outcome

Eleven projects delivered across five states and territories for Australia’s most demanding defence client. The program demonstrates the ability to operate within environments where precision, security, and compliance aren’t optional — they’re the baseline.
