Regional Secondary College — Full Campus Fit-Out

The Project

One of the largest education furniture projects in our portfolio — a complete campus fit-out for a regional secondary college in northern New South Wales. A high school teaches everything from chemistry to woodwork, English to visual arts, and no two rooms had the same furniture specification.

This wasn’t a case of rolling the same desk into every classroom. The project required furniture solutions for science laboratories, art studios, technology workshops, a library, assembly hall, staff rooms, administration offices, counselling spaces, and outdoor learning areas — each with its own functional requirements, compliance standards, and design brief.

The Challenge

The regional location — 470 kilometres from Sydney — added layers of complexity to procurement, delivery, and installation. Freight coordination for a project of this scale, to a location this far from the supply chain, requires detailed planning to ensure everything arrives in the right order, at the right time, and in the right condition.

A prototype phase was built into the project: sample installations of key furniture items in selected rooms, reviewed and approved by the school and the principal contractor before the full order was committed. This was critical for a project of this value — it gave everyone confidence in the product selection before committing to the full specification, and ensured there were no surprises during the main installation phase.

The installation itself was sequenced around the construction programme. Science labs needed gas and electrical connections before furniture could be installed. Technology workshops needed heavy-duty flooring laid first. The assembly hall required a portable stage. Every room had its own sequence, and every sequence had to align with the builder’s programme.

Our Approach

The project was managed through exhaustive specification tracking — a master schedule mapping every room, every item, every delivery window, and every installation dependency. The prototype phase proved critical — it gave the school and the principal contractor confidence in the product selection before committing to the full order.

This project demonstrates the ability to manage large-scale, complex, multi-zone fit-outs in regional locations where logistics, weather, and distance from supply lines are less forgiving than metro projects — while maintaining the same standard of project management, documentation, and quality assurance.

The Outcome

A complete campus fit-out delivered on schedule and to specification — a school ready to open on day one with every space furnished, functional, and compliant. The scope and variety of this project remains one of the strongest demonstrations of end-to-end project management capability in our portfolio.
